Santa Fe Double Shoulders are known for their rich, slightly darker appearance and fine tooling and dyeing properties. Very clean, well-trimmed and good sized, with nice length. We buy what is called an “A/B” selection, so the vast majority of them are B grades, which is pretty much what all vendors refer to as “#1”. Lightly buffed on the back for ease of gluing a lining if you wish, and they have a very pleasant feel if you wish to leave as is. (12–16 sf. avg.)

Trimmed Import C Grade Double Shoulders Good size but includes the neck pieces, and will have some issues on front and possibly the back. Perhaps some cuts. You'll cut some belts, but you won't be able to just strip it up without getting a few defects. Good for holsters, sheaths, and other things that allow you to cut around issues easily. Tools and dyes well. Even the small ones have decent length. (Aprox.8–9 oz. 9–13 sf. avg.) Retail: $6.49/sf. Wholesale: $5.99/sf. ORDER # 911-2506 Here’s the way it is with double shoulders… First, there are no tanners of double shoulders in the U.S., so we contract with tanners out of the country to deliver double shoulders of certain weights and grades. We specify the trim, shape, and size range that we’ll accept. They send us samples, and we approve or disapprove. Then we get the first shipment, and usually, it’s pretty good. On the next shipment, they perhaps don’t trim them as well, so the shoulders don’t look like what we’ve advertised. Of course, we don’t know that until we unwrap the pallet and go through them. At that point, returning them to Mexico or wherever has become a non-option! So here we sit… and now we have a whole bunch of “Special Purchase” double shoulders.  Or perhaps we’ve ordered a pallet of “B” grade shoulders (same as #1). The first pallet comes in great, and the next comes in less than great. Or perhaps the first pallet comes in, and all the pieces are 12-14 sf. and the next has 20 percent of 8, 9, and 10 footers! Or perhaps the pallet comes in with all 13 or 14 sf. double shoulders, but they’re all only 44" long!!! This is only one of the reasons we don’t price double shoulders or sides by the piece. It might be different in some instances, but rarely so. Anyway, if you get a double shoulder that isn’t exactly like the picture in the book or on the website, don’t let it shock you! We try to keep the selection as good and useable as we can, and as always, if you ever have a problem with leather that we send to you, just let us know, and we’ll take steps to correct matters.

Natural Harness Double Shoulders A new addition to the SLC line, this veg tanned harness leather is straight-up amazing! Heavily waxed with a beautiful pull-up, this leather will glue wonderfully. The thinner weights are ideal for bags and wallets. The original 9-10 oz. will produce fantastic strips. We anticipate this leather quickly becoming a new customer favorite. Sold by the square foot.
